We are celebrating the Winter Solstice at our favourite pub.
Everyone is invited! The party will start at 8pm, and finish at 11pm, it’s free entry so come down to this cosy friendly and beautiful pub by the river Lee for some midwinter warmth.
We wanted to put something out in support of the people of Palestine.
The song is free to download from our Bandcamp page. There is an option to donate if anyone wants, and all proceeds will be passed on to Gaza Sunbirds https://www.gazasunbirds.org/
This is something that is important to me especially. My sister’s husband is Palestinian and his sister lives in Gaza. Recently her and her family travelled south from their home in Gaza City to escape the bombs. They went with just the clothes on their backs, it wasn’t possible to take belongings and it was a long and traumatic journey. Along the way they passed tanks, IDF soldiers and a lot of dead bodies laid in the road. Anyone seen filming with a phone was killed by IDF, any young men were taken and killed. During the journey their 17 year old daughter Basmallah was singled out and taken by IDF soldiers and forced to watch as 4 Palestinian men were made to undress and then were executed. Basmallah was terrified that she would be killed too and is now very traumatised.
My brother’s wife worked as a Human Rights Observer in the West Bank during 2019 and is still in contact with many of the Palestinian friends she met while she was there. The Israeli settlers have increased their violence towards Palestinians and are stealing homes and land at an alarming rate.
Many of the bombs and weapons used to kill, injure and destroy Palestinian lives are made in the UK.
It is our country’s shame that our government is willing to put profit before human lives and it is our duty to shout as loud as we can against injustice.
A couple of bands had to drop out of next weekends gig, but it’ll still be a fun night, so come along! It’s Davide’s first gig with us and we’ve got a new song!
Saturday 4 March at The Birds Nest in Deptford, with Backstreet Abortions and Dinosaur Skull, and Saturday 11 March at the Royal Sovereign Clapton, with Hagar the Womb and Dogshite. Both gigs are free!
We’re playing with The Yeps Yeps (their first gig!) at the Anchor E5 (next to the river Lee) on Friday 25th November. First band on at 9pm, the bands will be over by 11pm.
